Directions to Timber Ridge

Scottish Weekend begins on Friday with registration at 4:00 p.m., followed by dinner, and the Welcome Dance at 8:00 p.m. The second Sunday class ends at 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch.

Timber Ridge Camp is located in Highview, WV, near Winchester, VA. The camp is 90 miles from Washington, DC, 120 miles from Baltimore, 185 miles from Pittsburgh, 230 miles from Philadelphia, and 300 miles from New York.

The closest airport is Dulles International Aiport (IAD) in Dulles, VA. Please check the transportation information form in your registration packet or contact Amy Cummings-Leight for details.

Area Map for Timber Ridge

From Baltimore:

  • Beltway #695.
  • 70 West towards Frederick (approx. 40 miles).
  • Merge onto US-340 W via exit number 52 toward CHARLESTOWN/ LEESBURG (24 Miles).
  • Go about 5 Miles past Harpers Ferry and just prior to Charlestown get on Route 340 S towards Berryville (Approx. 13 miles).
  • Turn right onto Route 7 / Berryville Pike towards Winchester and travel about 8 more miles.
  • Just prior to Winchester take 81 North towards Martinsburg (2 Miles / 1 Exit).
  • Take the US-11 exit (exit number 317) toward VA-37/ WINCHESTER/ US-522 N/ STEPHENSON/ US-50 W (1/4 Mile). Turn left at the light.
  • Road divides. Stay to the right on Route 37 S (3.8 Miles)
  • Exit at Route 50 and turn right at light.
  • Go approx. 11 miles and turn left at Route 259 (just after you pass the Gore Fire station on right).
  • Follow Local Directions.

From Pittsburgh, PA:

  • Take Route 70 to Route 522 past Cacapon State Park --13 miles to Route 771. Go 1/4 mile to Route 701. Go 7 miles to Route 50 East. Go 1/2 mile to Route 259.
  • Follow Local Directions.

From Washington, D.C.:

  • Take 495 By-Pass to Route 66 West. Take Route 81 North Exit. Take 81 North to Exit 310, which is Route 37 North. Take Route 37 North to Route 50 West Exit. Turn left at the light onto Rt. 50.
  • Follow Local Directions on reverse.
  • Or: Take the Dulles Toll road to the Greenway all the way to Leesburg, VA. (Toll $7.90)
  • Stay left and take Route 7 to Winchester.
  • Follow the Baltimore directions from Route 7 to Route 50 and
  • Follow Local Directions.

From National Airport:

  • Upon exiting National Airport, pick up Route 66 North to Route 81 North to Route 37 North to Route 50 West.
  • Follow Local Directions.

From Dulles Airport:

  • Exit the Dulles Airport and pick up the Dulles Airport Toll Road to Leesburg, Virginia and follow that to the end. It is called the Greenway. Then take Route 7 West and follow signs to Winchester, Virginia. (Toll $6.40). Take Route 81 North one exit, then Route 37 South, then Route 50 West.

From BWI:

  • Upon exiting Baltimore Washington Airport, pick up Route 195 North to Route 166 (Rolling Road).
  • Turn left at Frederick Road (Rt 144 going west) and turn right at the first stop light, continuing on Rolling Road.
  • Turn left at Route 40 (4 lane divided highway). You will see the Double T Diner across the 4 lane highway.
  • Continue West on Route 40 until it becomes Route 70 and follow the directions for Baltimore.

Local: (Look for Camp Signs after turning onto Route 259)

  • Go approx. 11 miles on Route 50 (except from Pittsburgh Area). There is a defunct gas station at the turn - "Gas for Less" and Gift Shop. Going west, you have gone too far if the divided highway becomes a two-way road.
  • Turn left (South) at Route 259 (just after you pass the Gore Fire station on right).
  • Stay on Route 259 for about 5 miles (Enter the State of West Virginia). Take 1st right onto Christian Church Road (Just past Case Tractor Dealership) (Timber Ridge sign at turn).
  • Follow Timber Ridge Camp signs approx. 2 miles to Hooks Mill Road (fork).
  • Saltire FlagTurn left and follow until pavement ends at entrance.
  • Turn left into camp entrance and follow dirt road (bear right at top of hill into Timber Ridge).
  • Look for Scottish Weekend Signs.
